Overview
At 87 Boulevard Rahal El Meskini, the Cinéma Liberté was built in 1954 by the architect Albert Planque, who was based in Rabat and worked in Morocco from 1946 to 1970. The cinema is part of a complex combining a large retail space and flats; its modern, restrained architecture sets it apart from other cinemas of the same period, with more ornate forms.
One of the last in a long series of cinemas built in the city, it has since closed, and the building has been converted to retail use.
