Overview
On Place Lemaigre-Dubreuil, the Immeuble Liberté, also known as “le Dix-septième”, was built from 1949 to 1951 by the Swiss architect Léonard Morandi to house flats and offices. Rising 78 metres on a V-shaped plan, it was among the first skyscrapers in Africa. The square is named after Jacques Lemaigre-Dubreuil, who was assassinated at its foot in 1955.
