On Boulevard Victor Hugo, in the heart of the Habous quarter, this building is the Mahkama du Pacha, designed by the architect Auguste Cadet and built from 1941, with work continuing until 1952. Raised in wartime using traditional techniques, it unfolds zellige tilework, carved plaster and sculpted cedar around a sequence of patios. Once the pasha’s court, it now houses the Méchouar prefecture; it has been listed as national heritage since 2003.
