Overview

On Rue de Londres, on the Mers Sultan plateau, the Villa Carl Ficke has housed the Casablanca Memory Museum since 2025. It was completed in 1913 for the German merchant Carl Ficke, to designs by the architect Ulysse Tonci. Its Neo-Moorish composition combines arcades, zellige and a garden. Accused of espionage, its owner was executed in 1915; the villa then served as a place of detention, later as a children’s home, before housing an annex of the Khnata Bent Bakkar school.

Restored under the direction of the architect Salima Naji, it was inaugurated in February 2025 as the Villa Carl Ficke, Casablanca Memory Museum.
