Overview
Built between 1929 and 1932 by Auguste Cadet, Edmond Brion and Marcel Desmet, the Grand Bon Marché building rises above the Sumica and Grand-Socco arcades. Its central section soars over three bays, crowned by canted pediments decorated with blue and green stoneware mosaic. The arcades, which meet at the heart of the block, are lit by a glass roof carried on flat iron bars. The neighbouring Crédit du Maroc building, designed by Edmond Brion in 1947, keeps a monumental door by the Parisian ironworker Raymond Subes.
