Overview

Commissioned by Thami El Glaoui, Pasha of Marrakech, the building was erected between 1922 and 1927 by Marius Boyer and Jean Balois on Boulevard Mohammed V. The second and third floors are joined by a marble colonnade carrying the fourth-floor gallery, screened by a cement mashrabiya. Four duplexes clad in red and green zellige, with roof gardens, crown the entrances. A shopping arcade lit by three glazed rotundas runs through the block to Rue Allal Ben Abdallah. Antoine de Saint-Exupéry stayed here with his wife Consuelo.
