Overview

Commissioned by Haj Omar Tazi, Pasha of Casablanca, the building was erected in 1931 by the Italian architect Aldo Manassi. Its three façades, punctuated by stepped pediments, open on the top floor into balconies carried on zellige-clad columns. The Art Deco style keeps echoes of Art Nouveau: round-arched windows, curved canopies and figurative zellige panels. It is one of the buildings converging on the circular Place du 16-Novembre.
